Rabbit haemorrhagic disease

A viral disease characterised by a very rapid course and high mortality. It is transmitted by direct contact with rabbits, their secretions and excretions. It can also be transmitted indirectly through tools, food and especially biting insects. The disease is seasonal with the highest incidence from April to October. Symptoms include convulsions, respiratory distress, bleeding from the nose and other body orifices, followed by death. Death often occurs without clinical signs.
