National reference laboratory for diagnosis and epizootology of tuberculosis, paratuberculosis and other mycobacterioses
The NRL is active in diagnosing mycobacterial infections of animals, primarily focusing on the agent of bovine/avian tuberculosis, paratuberculosis and atypical mycobacterioses. Diagnosis is routinely conducted, in particular, by means of the cultivation method and molecular genetic methods; serological methods are employed for paratuberculosis as well.
The NRL operates within a quality control system and is accredited under CSN EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2018.
