Our laboratory is involved in monitoring antimicrobial resistance in pathogens of veterinary importance. This programme offers veterinarians and livestock farmers the opportunity to test livestock free of charge until the end of November 2024.
The government will fund bacteriological testing (culture) of samples from pigs, cattle and poultry suspected of having a bacterial disease.
It also pays for antimicrobial susceptibility testing for selected pathogens of veterinary importance in cattle, pigs and poultry. The results of antimicrobial resistance testing using the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method will be provided to the farmer or attending veterinarian who sent the samples for testing.
Please quote the farm registration number on the test order and the flock number for poultry.
