Description

Three main forms are usually observed in affected animals:
- Encephalitis, meningitis or meningoencephalitis, the most common form in ruminants.
- Late abortion, stillbirth, perinatal infection
- Gastroenteritis, sepsis in monogastric animals, calves and lambs.

It is diagnosed by bacteriological isolation of the pathogen from brain tissue in animals with CNS involvement, from placenta and foetus in abortion, and from organ samples in septic form.

Testing options:

  • serological testing - PA
  • bacteria detection
