NRL FOR ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE

28. 2. 2019

National reference laboratory for antimicrobial resistance

The basic task of the lab is to monitor the development of antimicrobial resistance in indicator bacteria isolated from farm animals, foods and raw materials of animal origin. It is also responsible for the correct interpretation of the results obtained, monitoring trends and definitions of resulting risks. In cooperation with the EURL, it is also involved in international comparative laboratory tests and European schemes for monitoring the risk types of resistance. In conjunction with the CVA of the SVA and ISCVBM Brno, it seeks to provide valid information leading to co-forming the antibiotics policy of the state and the subsequent good clinical practice in the administration of antimicrobials. It monitors new trends in the industry, communicates with the EURL and forwards new knowledge to other laboratories.
