Checking milk for mastitis agents

  • It is appropriate to use sterile glass test tubes with caps, packs of 10 items.

Checking for bacterial agents, including contagious abortion in mares

  • It is appropriate to use a swab type with Amies activated carbon transport medium.

Swabs taken from the local environment

We send materials for taking one swab sample to check the state of disinfection in food premises (289/2007).

  • It is appropriate to use 1 pad with transport medium, 1 template of 20 cm², moistener solution.

 

For production process hygiene criteria (RC (EC) 2073, Section 2.1), it is possible to send, upon request, materials for taking a sample from one carcase.

Destructive method

  • It is appropriate to use 1 sterile bag, 1 disposable tweezers, 1 disposable scalpel, 1 sterile metal template of 5 cm².

Swab method

  • It is appropriate to use 4 swabs with transport medium, 4 swabs without transport medium, 1 template of 100 cm², moistener solution.

Salmonella detection

  • It is appropriate to use 1 abrasive sponge, 1 template of 100 cm², sterile gloves.

For monitoring zoonoses (MN SVA 1/2005), it is possible to request materials for taking a sample from one carcase.

Bovine animals, pigs – salmonella detection

  • It is appropriate to use 1 abrasive sponge, 1 template of 100 cm², sterile gloves.

Bovine animals, pigs – detection of E. coli O157

  • It is appropriate to use 4 swabs with transport medium, 4 swabs without transport medium, 1 template of 100 cm², moistener solution.

To detect salmonella in poultry, it is possible to request materials for taking one sample (neck skin from three carcases of poultry).

  • 1 sterile bag, 1 disposable tweezers, 1 disposable scalpel.

To detect cambylobacters in poultry, it is possible to request materials for taking one sample (10 caeca).

  • 1 sterile bag, 1 disposable tweezers, 1 disposable scalpel, sterile gloves.

As part of the national salmonella control programme at poultry farms, it is possible to request materials for taking swabs to assess the level of effectiveness of disinfection in halls after destocking positively monitored salmonella serotype flocks.

  • 6 swabs with transport medium, 6 sterile templates of 100 cm² each, moistener solution.

 

To test water (252/2004) it is possible to request materials for taking one sample of water for microbiological testing.

  • 1 sterile bottle of 500 ml.

You can request materials to take one sample of water for chemical testing.

  • Full analysis as per 252/04: 4x 1 litre glass bottles.
  • Short analysis as per 252/04: 1x 1.5 litre PET bottle left from bottled water (thoroughly rinsed).

 

To test raw milk, you can request materials to take one sample of milk.

  • 1x 1 litre sterile bottle.

To test raw milk for somatic cells you can request materials to take one sample of milk.

  • 1 plastic sample container with preservative.

We can supply the following sampling equipment for taking microbiological testing samples:

  • Sterile sacks, knives, spoons, scoops for loose materials, skimmers, bottles.

Parasite checks

Taking samples for scatology checks

  • It is appropriate that samples are placed in well-sealable sacks, large test tubes or sterile and closable jars.

Taking samples to detect ecto-/endoparasites

  • It is appropriate that samples are placed in well-sealable sacks, large test tubes or sterile and closable jars.

When sampling parasites, it is appropriate to use tweezers and then place the sample into a stoppered test tube either freely or into a 6% alcohol solution (2.5 ml).

Proof of intravital parasites or their agents excreted from the host body

  • Use standard haematology test tubes for incoagulable blood with the EDTA solution.

 

Trichomonas infections – bovine animals / birds

Cows

  • Sterilised cotton swabs are the recommended sampling material.

Stud bulls

  • Appropriately labelled, special test tubes for preputial washings are the recommended sampling material.

Birds

  • Sterile cotton swabs are the recommended sampling material; after taking the sample, place the swab into a sterile, stoppered test tube.

 

Testing the muscle of domestic/wild pigs for any presence of Trichinella spp.; testing the muscle of other species for any presence of tissue parasites (Sarcocystis spp.)

  • It is appropriate that samples are placed in well-sealable sacks, large test tubes or sterile and closable jars.

 

Examination of beehive bottom debris / bees

  • It is appropriate that samples are placed in well-sealable sacks, large test tubes, sample containers or jars/pots sealable by other methods.
