The State Veterinary Institute Prague is a state-of-the-art site for veterinary diagnosis. There are several teams of experts with an extensive scope of equipment that integrates the latest knowledge and technologies. The comprehensive veterinary laboratory diagnosis service in Prague-Lysolaje is split into five specialist departments (food hygiene, chemistry, pathology and parasitology, bacteriology, and serology and virology). Within each of the departments there are a total of 15 reference laboratories, from which 12 have the status of national reference laboratories and 3 are reference laboratories). Samples are tested in 100+ specialised laboratories extending over a surface area exceeding 2,500 m2. Other laboratory operations can be found at branches in Hradec Králové (food hygiene, bacteriology, serology and virology, and pathology and parasitology), Český Brod and Příbram (laboratories for diagnosis of trichinellosis) SVI Prague has implemented a quality system accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute, o. p. s. under the CSN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard and is formally recognised as State Veterinary Institute Prague – Testing Laboratory No. 1 176.
